Supernova AT2018yu, 01 March 2018
On 01 March 2018, supernova AT2018yu was discovered during a supernova patrol carried out by the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile, using a 40 cm telescope. The object is in galaxy NGC1888/NGC1889, in the constellation Lepus.)
The following montage shows images captured with an SBIG8300 camera and a Celestron C8, with 3 minute and 27 minute exposures. For comparison, a pre-discovery and a post-discovery image from the Sloan online DSS (Digital Sky Survey) are also shown.
